Ever gotten an error message on your computer? Can you believe there's more than 16,000 errors for windows? With so many errors it's not surprising you get one at some point in time. If you are confused and not sure what to do, don't worry - 99% of the time a windows error isn't the end of the world. In fact you can probably fix it yourself!
With so many people owning a computer these days, you can imagine computer techs are making an absolute KILLING repairing even the easiest to fix computer errors. Imagine getting paid $100 to fix an error that takes maybe 10 minutes to repair?
How do they do it? The truth is, most computer techs have no idea how to fix an error when you tell them about it. What they do know how to do is use google. Searching for a term such as how to fix error 1606 or error 53043 etc.. is usually what they do. The link I posted above is actually a decent resource for fixing errors and is probably one of the sites those computer techs use to fix your PC problems.
I'm not one to question how they do their business - there's a lot of good techs out there too. But in the example above, it is so easy to fix on your own - as long as you know how to download a file (you do right?) then you can fix a lot of errors.
I'd recommend not bringing your computer to a tech unless you are absolutely baffled on how to fix it - if you have a crazy virus or something then it is understandable, but windows errors happen so often, you'll save yourself A LOT of money by learning how to fix the majority of them yourself.
